Zermatt - Skiers’ Delight!
Of all the places that I have skied at, I would say Zermatt remains my most favorite skiing destination so far.
First of all, the picture perfect postcard beauty of the place will bowl you over. There is something quite romantic and elegant about this place. Skiing here got me immense pleasure, never really thought it could get as good as this.
One of the best things about this place, is the reasonable rates. It is not too expensive and if you are at an intermediate level, then this ski resort is definitely the place for you. The beauty of the Alps kind of serenades you! The view is breathtaking.
I didn’t have to stand in long queues waiting for my turn on the lift. I have heard a lot of people say, that there can be a long waiting if one of the runs are closed. Luckily, during my trip I didn’t have to face any of these. Therefore, I never found myself at the receiving end of any pushing or shoving. I found the runs quite good. And there is a lot of snow!
However, please ensure that you have all your skiing gear with you. Of course, they provide you with back up gear but at a high price. I faced no problems because I was adequately equipped. The skis can be rented at a reasonable price though.
There are lots of places around here where you get food and accommodation at affordable prices.
In all I had nothing to complain about. Yes, it is true that I have not been to all the major skiing destinations in the world. But compared to whatever I have seen till date, Zermatt holds its own spot. Maybe I am biased because I had only good experiences or perhaps my judgment is swayed by the beauty of the Alps. But all in all, Zermatt was great fun.
