Have you ever imagined a vacation so amazing, that you would almost find youself in another ages. Well, go to Zermatt, one of the highest situated ski and snowboard resorts in Europe, and enjoy a remakrable vacation and an amazing board experience in this pure, full of hospitality and cheerfulness place.

The place itself is an amazing mixture of people and architecture. Everything there looks like old and at the same time gives you the freshness of the modern age. The small mauntain huts are so adorable, that hardly is there a visitor who has not taken at least a hundred pictures of a single place like that. The completely authentic atmosphere gets u in the ages when the Alps were first explored and populated by the Europeans and even the hotels are amazingly decorated. The narrow and shinny streets sometimes make you want to stay on the street during the night rather than going back to your en suite room in the hotel, and the people are so welcoming that you can find the company for the day just in a minute on the resort’s high street.

All this is amazing and sometimes during christmas visitors have the impression of being in a true fairytale. But all this is not enough to impress a real snowboard addict. This is why describing the board opportunities in the resort are almost as amazing as the resort itself. The specially designed tracks are somehow unique with the curves and the steep slopes -you can never be bored by the artificial tracks since they have beed adopted for the needs of every boarder. However, you might wish to try the off piste tracks -well then you have one of the best snowboarding opportunities in the world. The powderly snow, and the regular snowfall provide you with the ultimate snowboarding conditions and the dense forests give you the perfect routes for extreme snowboarding.

Snowboarding is very similar to skiing. You use your body to do movements that enable you to stabilize and control your snowboard. These same movements are similar to that of skiing. So, if you are already a skier, you will not experience as many problems learning snowboarding. There are a few tips you should follow though when learning how to snowboard.

First, it is important to remain in a relaxed position. Snowboarding, like any other type of sport, requires you to have a calm mind. Injuries and accidents happen in snowboarding as a result of being too tense. You want to keep your knees bent when you mount your snowboard. If you are too stiff on your board, it intensifies the absorbtion of impacts between the snow and your board.

It is best to practice snowboarding in a smaller area at first. This will allow you to practice your toe side turns and other turns. For instance, a common balancing practice would be lifting your heels while you press your toes to your board. Mastering balancing basics and the steering of your snowboard will enable you to move on to bigger areas of snow.

Learning how to stop your snowboard is next. This requires you to make more turns until you are finding yourself in an uphill position. An uphill position on your snowboard will slow you down until you come to a complete stop.

If you wanted to try out some of your new moves, the best learner slopes are in Italy. italy skiing is one of the most popular places with exciting slopes and not to mention you get a bit of that glorious sunshine too.

Once you learn the basics of snowboarding you can move on to much more exciting activities such as doing tricks. Some popular tricks that you will want to learn in snowboarding are the Rodeo 540, the McTwist, the 720, the Melon, the Flying Squirrel and the Slob Air. This is when snowboarding really becomes fun and exciting and you are ready to hit the more challenging slopes at last.

Many people enjoy snowboarding as a way to get their exercise as well as enjoy the outdoors winter sports while getting to travel to such exciting places as val thorens ski. It does not matter if you are a beginner or an advanced snowboarder, there are several things you need to consider before planning your next snowboarding trip. This entails safety practices, proper equipment and gear, clothing and common sense.

The first thing you should do before starting out is to check the weather for the day. You want to be sure that the conditions are good enough for you to snowboard.

You want to dress appropriately for your snowboarding trip with warm and waterproof clothes. You should also wear loose fitting clothing which will allow you to move more freely. Wearing a helmet and safety eye wear is essential as well. Wearing the correct type of boot is important as well. You want them to fit your feet so that they do not fall off but you are still able to move around easily.

You should wear high socks under your boots as well and be sure to tuck your pants in so that your boots do not rub against your skin all day which can make your skin raw. Only wear one pair of socks regardless of people say. More than one pair will decrease circulation and make your boots tighter which will impair your moves.

You want your snowboard to be in good condition and the proper size as well. You will want your board to be sharp for more control. Hard and packed snow is the norm on snowboarding trails, so sharp edges will help you keep control of your board and keep you safe.

Last, be sure to know your limits. Do not entertain trails or areas that are not within your skill level. It is okay to gradually work your way up to slopes like these when you are more experienced, but take it slow at first and stay within your limit of expertise.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Croatia? For some, it is a land whose people fought for freedom during the latter part of the 20th century; yet for some others, it is a land of romance, beautiful beaches and enthralling landscapes. But for most people, the thought of ski chalets isn’t really the first thing that comes to mind. Very lately, it has become the center of attraction for all those who are in love with the sport of snowboarding. Snowboarding junkies from all over the world come here every year to take advantage of the natural terrain and snow filled. Although undiscovered by many, you should not miss the opportunity to go snowboarding in Croatia.

Croatia is one of the emerging European nations and the pleasant and favorable climate all round the year makes this land all the more attractive. When you go snowboarding in Croatia, you would be making a serious mistake if you do not visit Bjelolasica, the famous training center for the Olympic snowboarders. It is located in the Zagreb region. It is considered the home of snowboarding, and it also provides excellent services to encourage those seriously and not so seriously involved in the sport.

One great area for snowboarding is the Medvednica Mountain located in Zagreb, where its northern slopes have been used to host the skiing events for the world cup. Not many snowboarders know about this area so it would be a welcome challenge for snowboarders.

For those of you who are looking for a snowboarding experience that is away from the beaten path then you should head over to Velika. Go up to the Papuk Mountain and enjoy the hospitality of the locals, enjoy the food and wine, and then later you can try out your aerials on the slopes.

If you are heading for Croatia, do not forget to dive into the beauty and romance of the Adriatic Sea or the beauty of the incomparable landscapes. When you get your share of feel, grab the boards and head towards the snow peaked mountains to have your share of fun in snowboarding.

If you are just starting out with snowboarding and have no idea how to pick a board, we have a few tips for you.

1. What size board do you need? The trick to selecting the right size snowboard for an individual is by taking the board you are considering and standing the board straight up with the tip of it in the air. The tip should basically stop at your nose. This is the right size for you.

2. Does weight determine board size? Some disagree about this fact, however if you are a heavier person your board should definitely be a longer board. This having been said, the new boarder should consider a smaller board to start with. The smaller boards are easier to manage and maneuver. The better you become with the board and the faster you want to go, the longer your board should be.

3. What can I use for trick riding? Any rider who is interested in stunt riding, spinning and park riding will want to stick with the shorter more easily maneuvered boards.

4. Where do I get the speed? If you want to fly down the trail and are more interested in the powder down the slope, you will want to go with a longer board. Longer boards make for higher speeds.

5. Does the width of the board matter? Yes, the width of the board is important. People who have larger feet will want to consider a wider board. Those with large boots, above size 10, should discuss with a sales person the options with wide snowboards made especially for those with a larger boot size.

6. Do I need to spend a lot? If you are a new boarder you may want to look at some of the less expensive packages. These are typically set up for beginners and are often a great bargain. When you are sure that you are going so stick with it, look at some higher grade boards. The better the quality of the materials the higher the price will of course be.

One last tip, when you are just starting it doesn’t really matter what hills you go to because you will probably be stuck on the bunny hill anyway. Try not to shell out the cash for val disere chalet until you are a little bit more advanced, you may be a little bit disapppionted in your experiences.

Snowboarding is a fun amazing sport once you learn how to do it. Before you even begin you need to find somewhere to go to start.

There’s no getting away from this: Snowboarding gear can be extremely expensive. Bought new, you’re looking at spending hundreds of pounds to get the latest gear, clothing and accesories. You’re not only paying for the quality workmanship, of course, you are also paying for fashion and the prestigious name. Snowboarding, like any industry, is very fashion-centric and fickle. If you want the best brand-new gear then you will have to pay the right price for it. That’s just the way it is.

But is new the only way to go? Well, no, it doesn’t have to be. There is plenty of second and third-hand stuff available, but the trick is with anything: you need to know the right places to look.

As well as the obvious one (Ebay), there are many other places where you can stumble across gear which has been well-used, but is thoroughly serviceable. Much of this gear may be scratched or not look completely new, but usually this is only surface damage. And the price of some of this stuff is certainly worth taking a chance on. For fifty pounds, providing you are willing to hunt things down, you can easily furnish a whole snowboarding wardrobe!

The best places to look are: car-boot sales / markets / online advertisements and forums and also newspapers. People still put ads in the newspaper for many things, and often incredible deals can be found just by flicking through the pages and making a few phone-calls. And don’t be put off by the price. It would wise to be suspicious of items costing very little, but usually they are only this price because the person selling them needs the space.

The most important thing to remember is always ask for history. And be aware that if something looks too good to be true, it very well could be.

Just came across this online contest where the prize is resorts. Everybody should really put your names in, this would be such a cool way way to spend next Christmas considering the rubbish time that we had this year…

There are a number of companies which can do it for you—companies who have all the expertise and are happy to work with your creative thinking; all you have to do is follow the simple instructions.

One such company is Ride Harder.

What’s so good about these kind of companies? Well, most of them offer some kind of warranty—three years or more. And you can do all this from the comfort of your own home!

Snowboard building companies have galleries full of images, or you can upload your own image and they’ll make it look fantastic, staying in touch with you so that the vision you had is fully realized.

Or maybe you’d rather have total control? If so then there are many websites which can instruct you about how to do it yourself, such as ehow.

The only down-side of building a board in your garage is the tool side of things: some of which you probably won’t have at home. But, if you’re good with your hands and can rent a grinder and a saw from someone, then there’s no reason why it can’t be done. If you decide to do so then think carefully about the kind of wood you’d like to use: maple and birch are a good starting point. Design is only limited by your imagination.

One last thing, I have just registered that I have been staring at my computer screen for the last little while and am really tired of my Battlestar Galactica Wallpaper, I think it is time for a revision, these and more updates coming soon!

Skiing and snowboarding are both sports that unfortunately can result in a variety of injuries. Unfortunately, they don’t tend to be minor ones, either. When speed and vainglory combine with slippery ice and slushy snow, there’s definitely a likelihood of something going wrong. Here are some common snowboarding and skiing injuries you might have come across, or have even experienced yourself.
One common form of skiing injury is concussion. This can occur during a fall, or in case of collision with a hard object such as a tree. Wearing a helmet is one way of reducing the risk that you might receive a concussion when skiing or snowboarding.
Other commonly seen injuries involve the knees. Given the side-to-side motion common in both skiing and snowboarding, it only makes sense that the knee might be affected. Unfortunately, the knee bears the brunt of the twisting and turning motions, and you can find that you might end up with ligament damage in the case of a twist or a fall.
You might find that your shoulders also sustain some damage after a long skiing run, or particularly after a bad fall. Neck and shoulder injuries are unfortunately quite common, with dislocations and damaged rotator cuffs quite common.
Broken bones, particularly in the legs and wrists, are also commonly seen amongst skiers and snowboarders. Unfortunately, any sport that involves traveling quickly down a slippery incline can increase your risk of breaking a bone!
Sunburn is another common, although somewhat less serious, ailment that you might experience during your winter sports fun. Try to keep your skin covered up where possible, and wear zinc or sunscreen on exposed skin. This one, at least, is an easy injury to avoid.
When skiing or snowboarding, try to take as many safety precautions as you can in order to avoid injury. While there’s no way of reducing the risk of injury to zero, you can at least make sure that you’re as safe as you can reasonably be.
Philip’s surprise birthday bash: I think I know what we should do. We should arrange some ski resorts as a surprise.

We’ve all seen the videos and been seduced by the no rules glamour of snowboarding: huge drops off gargantuan cliffs, massive air, big crowds and wild spinning combinations involving big ramps, fashionable clothing and top class sponsors, but according to recent surveys, in excess of 50% of all beginner snowboarders will damage themselves significantly within just fourteen days of taking to the slopes to learn the basics, well before getting their board even clear of the ground. Most of the accidents are likely to result in some kind of arm related injury–secondary to that are injuries to the back and head–the commonest being fractures in the wrist joint. Below are a number of ways you can protect yourself and your loved ones while pursuing this awesome activity!

1) Head protection: the snow may look fluffy and fun to land in but be warned; most snowboarding accidents occur through a lack of experience in dealing with crash landing, rather than the direct impact of hitting the snow itself. There are a number of quality products on the market to keep your head in check–the latest being a line of ergonomically designed helmets which feature an inflatable liner which moulds around the head. Prices for the Helmeter Air-System® start at £64.99.

2) The next part of the body you need to seriously think about saving is your coccyx, otherwise known as the tail-bone. The snowboard beginners natural reaction to falling backwards will usually be to put the hands out to save the fall, first damaging those wrists, then punishing the backside faster than you can say “rad!” A number of companies offer tail-bone protectors, and several offer shorts designed to protect the hips and buttocks, too. One such example is the McDavid Hexpad Thuddshort (between $30 and $40).

3) How can you minimize injuries further? Well, avoid going snowboarding when fatigued or intoxicated, look out for small bumps that might throw you off and always keep your eyes peeled for less than adequate snowboarding conditions.
